Not just another expat blog

For some people, living abroad is their ultimate dream, for others it’s their worst nightmare. I am part of the former group and it’s hard to explain to the latter group why living abroad is so attractive.
It’s not about eating better, or finding cheaper housing, or having access to more cultural events – it’s about adventure, reinventing yourself, and never saying “this is it, this is my life” because you never know how things will change. I guess that’s why for some the idea of being an expat is a nightmare

Originally from the UK, for the last 20 years I have been fortunate enough to live abroad, first in France and now the USA. So I went from just being an alien in France to being an alien that moved abroad! Each time we have moved it has been due to my spouse’s work, and so I have had to reinvent myself professionally to make our adventure work for me.

I finally got smart and realized that I needed to develop a professional activity that can move with me and now my time is mostly spent writing specialist content for executive training companies in France and the US, and blogging.

Over the span of my 20 years living as an expat I have had different professional experiences and learned a lot about how to adapt and be resourceful, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it!

The purpose of this blog is to share with you my experiences and what I’ve learnt, and hopefully provide you with some ideas and motivation to make it abroad yourself. I will also share articles about my related passions – namely traveling and mountain biking in two of the most dynamic, interesting countries in the World.

I hope you will find some things of interest here, enjoy!
